How fees work

TicketPill takes 2.5% of your ticket subtotal, plus Stripe's payment processing fee. There's no TicketPill fee on tips.

What comes out of a sale

Each paid order has two fees:

• TicketPill fee: 2.5% of the ticket and add-on subtotal.
• Stripe payment processing fee: Stripe's card fee, usually 2.9% + $0.30 per order.

Tips flow straight to you with no TicketPill cut. Stripe processing still applies to the whole payment, tip included.

Your event dashboard's Payout summary breaks this down line by line: gross sales, the TicketPill fee, the Stripe fee, tips, and your net payout. In the Orders table, the You receive column shows what each order nets you after fees.

Choose who pays fees

You choose when building an event whether to absorb fees or pass them on to buyers.

TicketPill recommends absorbing fees so buyers pay the price they see in your marketing. Passing fees through is a clean way to protect your margin. You have the freedom to decide.

Subtracted from your payout (absorb):

The buyer pays just the ticket price, and both fees come out of your revenue. On a $25 ticket, you'd keep about $23.34.

In absorb mode, buyers have the option to cover fees at checkout so you receive more.

Paid by the buyer (pass on):

Fees are added on top at checkout, so you receive the full ticket price. The buyer sees a slightly higher total. On a $25 ticket, the buyer would pay about $26.70.

The Stripe fee is slightly higher when buyers pay the fee, because they apply the 2.9% to the total amount of funds processed. TicketPill fees do not increase in this situation.

Why your payout was smaller than expected

If a payout looks light, open the event's Payout summary and check each line. The usual reasons:

• International cards: Stripe charges an additional 1.5% on non-US cards and 1% if the transaction requires currency conversion.
• You're absorbing fees: With this mode selected, you'll pay the TicketPill fee and Stripe fee from your payouts. You can change this from the Overview tab in the event editor at any time.
• Refunds: Stripe keeps its processing fee even when you issue a refund, so the fee comes out of your Stripe balance or future payouts.
• Instant payouts: If you requested an instant payout, the additional fee comes out of your payout.
